What is Startup Grind?

Startup Grind is the largest independent startup community, actively educating, inspiring and connecting more than 3M entrepreneurs in over 600 cities across the world. We nurture startup ecosystems in 125 countries through events, media, and partnerships with organizations like Google for Startups. The cornerstone of our global community are monthly events featuring successful local founders, innovators, educators and investors who share lessons learned on the road to building great companies. Founded in Silicon Valley, Startup Grind has helped millions of entrepreneurs build their businesses, connect with strategic partners, and secure funding.

What is the Startup Program?

The Startup Program identifies fast-growth, high potential, early-stage companies built by founders we think have what it takes to get to the next level. Startup Grind uses its community of 3M people to offer a platform for startups from all over the world to come together, learn, meet investors, get feedback from thousands of attendees and make real relationships with partners.

What is the Startup Exhibition?

The Startup Exhibition is the gateway to our Startup Program. Startups that apply and get selected for our Startup Program are given the opportunity to have a booth and exhibit their startup at one of our 2 flagship conferences (details below). They also receive many other benefits, which you can find here.

When and where is the next conference at which I can exhibit my startup?

We organize two major conferences a year – Global Conference in Silicon Valley and Europe Conference in London.

Upcoming Conferences:
Startup Grind Global – February 2020 in Redwood City, California, USA
Startup Grind Europe – September 2020 in London, UK

How does the application process work?
  • Your startup applies on our website
  • We review your application and set-up a meeting for interview
  • If accepted, you pay the Startup Program Membership Fee to secure your place
  • Your startup receives Exhibition Benefits (at conference) + Community Benefits (post conference)
Do I need to pay to exhibit?

All startups that are selected after going through the application and vetting process are asked to pay a single, upfront membership fee to become part of the Startup Program. The fee depends on whether they are a Grind or Growth stage startup. The definitions of these stages and all associated benefits of our Startup Exhibition can be found here on the application page.

Do you offer any scholarships or discounts?

To ensure that we are able to deliver real value to every startup that is attending, we accept less than 10% of applications to exhibit at the conference. However, we still need to cover the costs of hosting such a big conference and running a year-round Program.

As such, we are not currently able to offer any scholarships or discounts. If accepted during our vetting process, we do offer a deposit payment option if needed. Please contact the Startup Grind representative you are in touch with for further details.

What’s the difference between the Grind & Growth Programs?

We at Startup Grind understand that not all startups are the same. Startups at different stages who attend the conference seek to gain different things from it. Hence, we have divided the Startup Exhibition into 3 categories:

Grind – For startups that have raised less than $3M
Growth – For startups that have raised between $3M and $10M

Each of the above 2 categories has been curated to meet the needs of startups depending on the stage they are in.

Am I allowed to pitch on mainstage?

The top startups from each conference are selected for our Accelerate Track. As part of Accelerate, they are given the opportunity to do a quickfire pitch on the mainstage during the conference, which is always a fantastic way to drive traffic to your booth, to your website and your products. As you can understand, given time limitations on mainstage, we limit mainstage pitches only to Accelerate startups. However, there will be the opportunity for non-Accelerate startups to pitch on other stages at the conference.

What is Accelerate and what are its benefits?

Accelerate is Startup Grind’s invite-only community designed to give the most promising startups from our global community, the education, network and exposure they need to accelerate their growth.

All the benefits of our Accelerate Program can be found here.

How do I get selected for Accelerate?
  • Your startup applies on our website
  • We review your application and set-up a meeting for interview
  • If accepted, you pay the Startup Program Membership Fee to secure your place
  • Your startup receives Exhibition Benefits (at conference) + Community Benefits (post conference)
  • Your startup then has the option to apply to Accelerate
  • Once you apply, we review your application
  • If accepted, you win Accelerate benefits

Please note, all Growth startups are automatically given a place on Accelerate

Do I need to pay to be on Accelerate?

No, once you have paid the upfront membership fee for the Startup Program, if you are also successful in being selected for Accelerate you will not have to pay any additional fees to benefit from what the community has to offer. Of course there are additional paid opportunities, however the majority of the benefits are provided at no extra cost.

What are the specifications of the booth in the Startup Exhibition?

The booth is a 30 inch * 4 feet high cocktail table in the main exhibition area. We will print a customized banner for your company, which will be installed behind your booth when you arrive (for the Global Conference). Other essentials such as linens, WiFi & power outlets will also be provided.

Does the Startup Grind Program provide Visa Support Letters?

Yes we do. Upon request, we provide invitation letters signed by our CEO to all team members of an exhibiting startup. These invitation letters can be used as part of your visa application.

Does the Startup Grind Program provide any type of media promotion/exposure?

One of the main benefits derived by our startups is media exposure. We have a reach of more than 3M across various platforms. We always leverage this reach to provide maximum exposure to our startups before, during and even after the conference. Our exhibiting startups have been featured as members of our Startup Program on Medium, Forbes, Business Insider, BBC, TechCrunch and many other such press articles multiple times.

Will there be an App for the Conference? How do I download it?

There will be an app to connect you to all the thousands of attendees, investors, partners and speakers attending the conference. A few days before the conference, each person will get an email with a unique link to download the app and associate the app account with their ticket. Once done, they will be able to view details of all exhibiting startups, partners, speakers etc. and also be able to network and schedule meetings with everyone else who is attending.

Can I become a partner of the Startup Program?

Yes, of course. Please click here to get in touch with us directly.
